If you are frustrated with big government, regulations, crony capitalism, unelected bureaucrats, the nanny state, et. al. be sure to know in your heart; they are there for a reason. We do not see the big picture, and we don't know the long term reason. But, have faith in the ultimate outcome. Then know the massive government over reach and bureaucracy are there because we placed them there. Maybe not you specifically, but collectively, over time, with our consent; we got what we voted for.
The "Greatest Generation" was raised in a depression then fought against imperialism - and won. They came home and wanted stuff; lots of stuff. They pursued science as the new god. They didn't have stuff growing up and they did without; now they deserved more stuff. They taught their kids to want stuff; their kids pushed out God and sought pleasure, feelings and the religion of science; "The Pepsi Generation" Happiness was more important than joy. They didn't raise their children to fear our Father in Heaven. So on this path, what is God's plan?
Death as a Nation? ...from Genesis 3:4-5,
...You surely will not die! For God knows that in the day you revere science and follow your feelings, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
Who's side are you on? If we want God to be on our side, we have to be on his side first.
Romans 13:1 ESV
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.
Romans 13:1-7 ESV
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.
1 Peter 2:13-17 ESV
Be subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.
Titus 3:1 ESV
Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,
1 Timothy 2:1-3 ESV
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
